There's no point masquerading for the sake of people around you. You may find your relationships with some people are changed. But if those relationships are contingent upon maintaining an illusion, then why would you want that? I'm all about being respectful and careful, but you also want to be genuine.

As for whether God cares about your marriage vs. thousands of starving people, there's no dualism there. He cares about both. I'm not passing judgment on your divorce (though I'm still floored, I had always thought you guys were doing great), just saying there's no ultimatum. God wants us to care for the poor and for our spouse. Still praying for you both. Continue being genuine.

Dear Matt,
I have read your commnets with great interest and only wish I lived closer so we could debate in person. I have been fasinated by both your intelegence and insitefullnes. You have researched your subjects well and have provoked many persons, including me, to think deeper into what we truely believe. No philosopher can expect that what he writes about or speaks about will be accepted by all nor should you. (And yes I do consider you a philosopher).

Jim Scott

Matt Scott. In the past I have found what you have to say intelligent and thought provoking. Although we disagree in some areas, it is fun to read what you really think. When you say things like “If God gives more of a shit about my marriage then about the millions that of people going hungry tonight, then who should give a shit about God?” that makes me think. A lot of the time people wouldn't say things like that, but that could be what you feel and I enjoy your point of view. I don't think that question was meant for me to give my answer so I will refrain, but I think you should go back to what you did before. Just because people may disagree or agree with your point of view doesn't mean that your thoughts are correct or misguided. So I would respond...If you play it safe, it is not you and would be pointless to write about anything. Have a good week. I enjoy your conversations.
Matt
