To Metro Atlantan’s- an open theology discussion idea.

I’m kind of testing the waters here and seeing if there are any signs of interest in this before I take any steps.

I’ve been part of the “emergent conversation” for about a year and a half now, and through my (very poor) networking skills I’ve managed to come across a few people who I think would enjoy carrying on a bit of a more directed conversation than what you would have at an emergent cohort meeting. What I would like to do is meet at various times (probably only once or twice a month at most) at various independent coffee houses or pubs to discuss theology related topics.
Often times the idea of discussing theology is one that seems a bit daunting, but I’m wanting to create an open atmosphere were we– those who may not have advanced degrees in theology– can sit and discuss that which we tend to shy away from. This, the shying away from discussing and opening ourselves up to look at our theologies, is done to the detriment of the church, and I think most people would agree with me on that point.

So, if you find yourself interested in discussing a bit of mind boggling material, willing to listen to other viewpoints, and quite drawn to (Good) coffee, drop a note here nd I’ll start to put something more solid together.

  • Thanks for the expressed interest guys, I'll probably start working on something more firm in the next couple weeks when things settle down a bit for me.
  • Definitely.

    I'd be interested. What day?
  • Absolutely interested. Let me know- you've got my email now. I have several friends who would be interested as well.
