Denying the Resurrection

Peter Rollins has a propensity to say things that make you think, it’s this attribute that makes him one of the larger influences on my life. I had the pleasure of seeing him speak once, and the experience is certainly one that I would love to repeat (he actually spoke again the next night, but I had to miss it due to leaving for a vacation). His words are often prophetic, in the old tradition of shining a light on the things that we desire to hide, so in many places it almost hurts to hear his words.

This is the case for his latest post, My Confession: I deny the resurrection.

Do yourself a favor, read it.

No post from me today, perhaps I’ll have one up tomorrow.

I would agree in principle, but not in substance. What is the outcome of this thought pattern? One must take this thought to its connclusion to see if it is sound. I suggest that if it is found to be a sound principal then we must all get out our whips and start flogging ourselves constantly.
