Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it.—André Gide

Sabbath Week

I have all next week off (finally using my vacation time, I’m surprised I lasted this long). I’ve decided I’m going to read as much as I can (maybe throw in some video game time too), but I don’t really have anything to read past the book I’m in right now (The Fidelity of Betrayal). Thus I turn it over to you guys, throw out a few suggestions for me, and I’ll pick them up sometime this week.

Oh, and (this is important) Tuesday is the Big 2 year anniversary (coincidentally apple is coming out with a notebook update that day- so I’ll be heading over there to switch out Becky’s new macbook).

I think I’ll be getting a copy of CHristi-anarchy if I can find it locally. That gives me time enough for maybe one more.

The best compliment you can ever give someone is to ask for their recommendations. I recommend Smilla’s Sense of Snow by Peter Koeg.

How about Richard Dawkins, “The God Delusion”, there are after all more than one side to every issue. Just a thought.

Hi Matt, … out shopping for books today I came across one I read several years ago ago. Well worth a look: “The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat”, by Oliver Sacks. Sounds whimsical, I know, but will actually raise all sorts of questions for you about how we think, how our minds work, and so (for me, at least) our concepts of self and belief…. It’s easy to read, but full of challenging ideas.

Thanks guys, I’ll see which books I can snag in the next few days, Sacks’ book sounds quite delightful though, I’ll probably pick that one up first, I’m thinking about switching to a philosophy major, so cognitive analysis is probably a good thing to study up on.

You should read Thomas the choo-choo train. Great book.

So. How did the reading go? Can we expect a series of posts about the insights you’ve gained?

Alas, my bank account instructed me not to purchase any books this week. (Sad face) So I will have to push these back to when I can find time. I did finish up “Fidelity of Betrayal,” and I started working on a post based off that.
